Pattern Required: Mushrooms Anyone
Fabric requirements:
· Background fabric (white)- 2 yd
· Printed fabrics – 12 to 16 fat quarters or ½ yards of 6 to 8 fabrics
(Variety of pinks and reds)
· Outer Border: ½ yd
· Mushroom appliqué:
o Scraps for mushroom tops, insides, and stems (or one fat quarter)
o One fat quarter of grassy green
o Scraps of green for grass
· Fusible web 2 yd
· Tear -away Stabilizer (for use underneath the appliqué’ as needed)-2 yd
Other Supplies:
Sewing Machine and Gizmos
Scissors
Mat
Creative grid 6 ½”x24 ½” ruler
Creative grid 12 ½” square ruler
3 ½” x 12 ½” ruler
Rotary cutter with new blade
Glass head pins
Thread and extra pre-wound bobbins
Personal iron and cut and press (optional)
Baggies for cut units
Pigma pen
Appliqué pressing sheet
Threads to match appliqués
Remember to label everything!
Cutting:
Background fabric (white)
· Five 5”strips- sub-cut into forty 5” squares
· Four 3 ¼”strips- sub-cut into forty 3 ¼” squares
· Three 1”strips sub-cut into
o Eight 1”x4 ½” rectangles
o Eight 1”x 5 ½” rectangles
· One 6 ½” strip- sub-cut into
o one 6 ½”x15 ½” rectangle and
o Two 1”x8 ¼” rectangles (spacers)
Inner border- four 2” strips (white)
Printed fabrics (pinks, reds)
· Forty 5” squares in a variety of red/pink prints
· One strip 3 ½”- sub-cut into
o One 3 ½”x 15 ½” rectangle (spacer)
o One 1 ¾”x4 ½” (Spacer)
o
Outer Border: (red)
Cut four 3” strips
Mushrooms:
o scraps for mushroom tops, insides, and stems( red, off white, beige/brown, grassy green)
o one 4 ¼”x15 ½”rectangle of grassy green
Using a pigma pen or pencil, trace each Mushroom piece of appliqué onto paper side of fusible web with about ½” between pieces.
