|We're Giving Away Elastic &
Collecting Face Masks - Curbside Only
We still have some elastic to give away for face masks - but not very much. You can pick up a bundle on Friday, April 24, and Tuesday, April 28, 11:30-2:00. Each bundle has 6 yards of elastic and 20 plastic twist ties - enough to make 10 masks using the Atrium Health mask pattern, or more if you're using a simpler pattern. Please take only what you will use to make face masks to donate to the many places in need.
If you can drop off some face masks we are still collecting them for hospitals, fire departments and grocery store workers.
Curbside Quilting Services
You've probably been busy making much needed face masks (our customers and staff are the BEST) but we hope you've been able to do a little home therapy sewing, too. If you have quilt tops you need quilted we can take them in for L&K Quilting and for our quilter, Bryan, on Friday, April 24, and Tuesday, April 28, 11:30-2:00 pm.
To keep contact to a minimum we'll need to do this a little differently than normal, but hey - what's normal any more? On a piece of paper please write all of the following information:
1 Your name
2 Your phone number
3 Describe quilt
4 Quilt size (if you know it)
5 Quilting pattern you'd like or write Quilter's Choice
6 Thread color you'd like or write Quilter's Choice
7 Please Trim Quilt or Don't Trim Quilt
Since passing around the pantograph books isn't the healthiest option right now you need to already have an idea of the pattern you want, or many people leave that up to the quilter.
Put the paper with the quilt in a bag and call us when you arrive and we'll come to your car. We can also help you with batting and backing.
Stock Up - Curbside
You can also take this opportunity to stock up on basic sewing supplies: needles, thread, Best Press, etc., or if you know what fabric you need just bring a swatch.
Atrium Health Locations Need Masks
Atrium Health locations still need homemade face masks to supplement the limited supply of N95 masks. They have provided a pattern and requested help from the community at large in making masks to keep their patients and healthcare professionals safe. Click on the links below. Their pattern is a little more complicated but it's what they need, and it gets easier once you make a few. If you can help, please do.
Instructions for adult masks.
Instructions for pediatric masks.
If donating directly to Atrium, please be sure that you place all masks in a closed plastic bag. Or you can bring drop them off at the shop on Friday, April 24, 11:30-2:00 pm.
