Beginning Quilting A-Z - 2-Day Class

Day 1: Learn how to cut fabric using a rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat. Learn basic piecing techniques and how to apply borders.

Day 2: Learn basic quilting techniques, how to make your own matching binding and how to bind your project!

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: No quilting experience needed but you must be familiar with how to use your sewing machine.
Requirements: Fabric according to handout you received at sign up. 24 x 26 cutting mat 45mm rotary cutter 6.5 x 24.5 ruler Sewing machine (in good working order), the foot pedal and power cords, and the manual (to be on the safe side!). Neutral thread for piecing. 1/4? foot for your machine (if you have one) Sewing kit basics: straight pins (fine), small scissors, seam ripper These items will get us started on the first day of class. For the second day you will also need the following, which we will talk about in class: A walking foot/even feed foot for your machine (if you have one). Marking tool that shows up on your fabrics. 18? x 36? table runner batting. Safety pins (smaller is better-I like size 0). Thread for quilting (this can match or contrast, it?s up to you). ?
